We welcomed the month of June with another meaningful edition of our Networking Mixer & Professional Development series, designed to foster learning, exchange, and connection among our Sunway Alumni community.

This round, we were pleased to have Ryan Kang, Managing Director of Unbound Malaysia and Victoria University alumnus, as our guest speaker. He led a session titled “Turning Ideas Into Impact: Exploring Funding, Growth & Opportunity,” where he shared practical insights on navigating the entrepreneurial journey from forming a company and accessing funding, to building partnerships and identifying growth opportunities.

Before the session began, alumni had the chance to mingle and settle in. It was great to see familiar and new faces engaging in conversations and setting the tone for an afternoon of thoughtful exchange.
During his talk, Ryan walked participants through key strategies for transforming ideas into viable ventures. He also touched on organisations that could serve as valuable partners in helping early-stage businesses move forward. The session was informative and grounded in real world experience, offering useful takeaways for those interested in entrepreneurship and innovation.

To make the experience more interactive, alumni were invited to form small groups and work together on a short group activity, coming up with a company concept and pitching it to one another. The exercise encouraged teamwork and gave participants a chance to apply some of the ideas discussed in a practical way.
We’re glad to have created a space where alumni could learn, share, and connect meaningfully. Our thanks to Ryan Kang for generously sharing his time and expertise, and to all alumni who participated with enthusiasm.
