CEO Global Engagement: Jakarta
What a wonderful start to the year with our CEO Global Engagement series in Jakarta, Indonesia, marking our second time hosting an alumni event there. We hosted an Evening Reception and Dinner at The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Pacific Place, and were delighted to reconnect with our alumni based in the city.
The evening began with a speech by the Director, Office of the CEO, Sunway Education Group, Dr Paul Linus, who shared the latest developments within Sunway Education Group and expressed his gratitude to our alumni for their continued support over the years. He also encouraged Sunway Alumni to give back by being part of the 5Ts, emphasising that every contribution, regardless of size, helps build a brighter future for generations to come.
The Ambassador of Malaysia to Indonesia, H.E. Dato’ Syed Mohamad Hasrin Tengku Hussin, also gave a speech, reaffirming the long-standing relationship between Malaysia and Indonesia, rooted in shared history, culture, and strong people-to-people ties. He also underscored Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening higher education cooperation through academic exchanges, joint programmes, and research collaborations, with Sunway Alumni playing a key role in advancing bilateral relations.
We enjoyed a lovely evening of mingling over dinner, made even more engaging with a Sunway trivia game that brought back fond memories and strengthened connections between alumni from different generations. The atmosphere throughout the night was warm and lively, and it was clear that everyone enjoyed getting to know one another.
One particularly heartwarming moment was when the alumni recorded a special video to convey their well-wishes to Group CEO, Professor Dato’ Elizabeth Lee.
We were truly grateful for the opportunity to reconnect with alumni from both earlier and more recent graduating cohorts. Our sincerest thanks to everyone who joined us and spent their precious time with us. We hope to visit again soon and look forward to welcoming some of you in Malaysia in the near future!
