Frame by Frame: Photography 101

It was a picture-perfect Saturday on campus as we welcomed back our talented alumnus, Graeme, for an engaging and hands-on photography workshop. With his keen eye for detail and passion for teaching, Graeme guided participants through the fascinating world of photography - starting from the very basics.

The session kicked off with an introduction to the essential "Holy Trinity" of camera settings: ISO, shutter speed, and aperture. Participants were also introduced to fundamental composition techniques, including framing, rule of thirds, and perspective, all aimed at elevating their photography skills regardless of experience level.

But the learning didn’t stop at theory. The real fun began when participants were challenged to put their knowledge into practice - both in the studio and outdoors. Cameras in hand, they explored different lighting, angles, and settings, capturing a wide range of creative shots. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement and creativity as everyone discovered the joy of photography through experimentation and teamwork.

To wrap up the session, participants gathered for a photo review and feedback segment. Graeme offered thoughtful critiques and personalised tips, helping each budding photographer better understand how to improve and develop their unique visual storytelling style.

We are incredibly grateful to Graeme for spending his Saturday with us and sharing his expertise so generously. Thanks to his guidance, we’re now all a little more confident behind the lens - and a lot more inspired to capture meaningful moments wherever we go.

Here's to more workshops, creative adventures, and of course, amazing photos!
