A new chapter of guidance, growth, and connection begins

We officially kicked off the Sunway Mentoring Programme 2025 with a vibrant and heartening launch on campus, welcoming back both our returning mentors and new faces into the fold. It was a day filled with warmth, shared stories, and a shared sense of purpose - to nurture, empower, and uplift the next generation of Sunway students.

The event began with our usual separate briefings for mentors and mentees, offering guidance and updates to help everyone ease into the new mentoring year. Whether they were just starting out or returning for another round, the excitement in the room was unmistakable.

We were honoured to have Professor Sibrandes Poppema, President of Sunway University, deliver the opening speech, setting the tone for a day focused on impact and inspiration. This was followed by heartfelt testimonies from mentor Caroline Regina and mentee Justin Yong, who shared their personal journeys within the programme highlighting just how transformative mentorship can be for both sides.

A special moment during the day was the recognition of four long serving mentors, whose continued commitment over the years is a shining example of what it means to give back. We celebrated the dedication of:

  • Teh Choy Yit
  • Yau Mee Jin
  • Au Ben Ley
  • Zohrab Chong Aik Shuen

Their stories and contributions continue to shape the lives of countless students, and we are deeply grateful for their unwavering support.

The event concluded with a group mentoring session and lunch, where mentors and mentees gathered to connect, exchange ideas, and build meaningful relationships. The lively conversations and genuine interactions were a true reflection of the spirit of the programme - collaborative, encouraging, and filled with purpose.

To all our mentors, thank you for your time, dedication, and generosity. Your efforts are paving the way for future leaders, and your impact goes far beyond what can be measured. Here's to another enriching year of mentorship ahead!
