Trident Alumni Games 2024: Badminton Challenge
The game was on fire! In collaboration with Taylor’s University and Monash University Malaysia, we recently hosted our annual Trident Alumni Games, and this year, we centred the event around Malaysia’s beloved sport: badminton! The excitement was palpable, and all three categories - Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles - sold out almost immediately.
With 32 pairs signing up for the challenge, the enthusiasm was electric. The recent Olympic Games undoubtedly fuelled the excitement for this year’s tournament, making the competition even more thrilling.
The day kicked off with a warm-up session to get everyone ready, followed by opening words from the Chief of Student LIFE & Services, Ms Lee Siok Ping, who officially launched the games. Players were then assigned to their respective courts, where they competed in fast-paced matches of 30 points. The atmosphere was charged with energy as participants displayed both exceptional skill and sportsmanship, giving their all on the court while maintaining a spirit of camaraderie.
Off the court, the sense of community was equally strong. Alumni from all three institutions mingled freely, building connections and sharing laughs. It was heartening to see pairs comprised of alumni from different universities teaming up, a true testament to the camaraderie that transcended competition.
After a series of intense and exciting matches, the top three pairs from each category emerged victorious, proudly taking home their medals. The day was a resounding success, filled with memorable moments both on and off the court.
