Sunway Mentoring Programme 2024
We celebrated the kickoff of our Sunway Mentoring Programme for 2024, and it was a heartwarming occasion filled with both fresh faces and familiar ones! It brings immense joy to witness our alumni generously sharing their wisdom and experiences to guide the next generation. The atmosphere was vibrant with laughter and camaraderie as alumni reconnected with one another.
We started off with the usual briefing for all our new and existing mentors and mentees separately. Everyone was eager to find out the new updates and what to expect for this new cohort of mentees. After that, everyone came together to officially launch our Sunway Mentoring Programme with an opening speech from President of Sunway University, Professor Sibrandes Poppema. We also took the time to honour three alumni who have been among our longest serving mentors in this programme: Dickson Pua, Ng Eu Ken, and Dr Gobind Naidu Haridass.
We also invited Dickson and Wan Nee, alumnus and student of Sunway University respectively, to deliver speeches on their experiences being a mentor and mentee in this programme. Safe to say, they encouraged and inspired both mentors and mentees to continue in this journey of mentoring and being mentored.
Lastly, we adjourned for lunch and a group mentoring session. It was really encouraging to see everyone getting to know one another, sharing experiences and imparting wisdom, both young and old. We hope that this mentoring journey will be a fruitful one and be a collaborative one in the long run.
