The University That Became Home

Giving back to Sunway University is deeply personal as it feels like coming full circle. From my first day as a Culinary Management student at the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, through my Master in Sustainable Development Management, and now as a PhD candidate, Sunway has been more than a university; it has been a home, a launchpad, and a source of unwavering support.

Volunteering in alumni-led initiatives, mentoring students, and supporting events have allowed me to stay connected and give back what I have received. I vividly remember how it felt to be a student - unsure, hopeful, and eager to learn. When alumni returned to share their journeys, it gave me hope and direction. That stayed with me. Now, I want to be that encouragement for others.

Supporting the JCF Community Scholarship was a natural decision. I know how life-changing education can be when access meets opportunity. I have seen how a little support can help someone dream bigger, rise higher, and eventually pay it forward.

Giving back has not only shaped my professional path but has made me more grounded, empathetic, and purpose-driven. It’s a reminder of where I started and why I keep going. Giving back doesn’t have to be big to be meaningful - attend a talk, mentor a student, share your story. Each act, no matter how small, creates ripples of change. Together, we continue to build a legacy that inspires generations to come.
