Giving back to my alma mater is deeply personal to me because it played such a pivotal role in shaping who I am today. I experienced firsthand the power of a nurturing educational environment, and I felt a strong sense of responsibility to ensure others have access to the same opportunities.
I have been fortunate to volunteer in several alumni-led initiatives, one of the most memorable being my role as a co-emcee for the Legacy of Giving event. It was a meaningful way to celebrate the spirit of philanthropy within our community and to help spotlight the importance of alumni involvement.
My decision to volunteer came from a place of gratitude. I remember the people who took the time to support me during my university days. That experience instilled in me a desire to give back - whether through events or supporting scholarships. Knowing that I can play a part in someone else’s success is incredibly fulfilling.
Looking back, giving my time, talents, and resources has helped me grow both personally and professionally. It has taught me leadership and empathy, built my confidence, expanded my network, and given me a purpose beyond my career. These experiences have become some of the most rewarding parts of my journey.
Supporting the Community Scholarship was inspired by a simple belief: talent exists everywhere, but opportunity does not. Everyone deserves a chance, and if I can help remove even one barrier, then I am doing what I set out to do.
To other alumni, I would say: start small. You don’t need to make a huge gesture to create real impact. Whether it’s mentoring a student or simply attending an alumni event, your involvement matters - and it can inspire others to do the same.
