Aliah’s Actuarial Studies Journey at Sunway University

Aliah’s journey at Sunway University is one of resilience, passion, and self-discovery, as she transformed her love for mathematics into a fulfilling career. Raised in Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, and later Shah Alam, she balanced her academic pursuits with her flair for fitness, becoming a certified Zumba instructor at just 17 and performing at major events across the Klang Valley. Her fascination with numbers led her to actuarial science, a path she discovered during her A-Levels and pursued at Sunway with support from the JPA 9A+ Sponsorship Programme.

Throughout her studies, Aliah found strength in the mentorship of her lecturer, Ms Aimi Syairah Saat and the unwavering support of close friends, who celebrated her highs and helped her navigate challenges. Beyond the classroom, she created lasting memories through spontaneous outings, volunteering with underprivileged children, and caring for rescued animals. These experiences deepened her compassion and sense of purpose. University life also helped her uncover a love for public speaking, leading to compere roles at professional events.

Her internship at PwC Malaysia solidified her interest in the actuarial field, strengthening her technical skills and confidence. Now beginning her career as an Underwriting Associate at Accenture, Aliah encourages students to embrace challenges, stay humble, and pursue growth with gratitude and purpose.
