Staying Connected Through Purposeful Giving
Having the opportunity to give back to Sunway University is truly a privilege that I am thankful for, as my four years there have shaped much of who I am today. Over the years, I have attended various alumni events, held sharing sessions with students, donated to the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation (JCF), which supports community scholars and joined the mentoring programme.
All of these efforts share a common purpose, which is to express gratitude to the institution and the people who invested in me, and to pay it forward so that more individuals can benefit from this invaluable experience. In addition to playing a small part in better preparing current students for what lies ahead, giving back and participating in various activities has allowed me to expand my network, strengthen my leadership skills, stay grounded, and find a deeper sense of purpose, knowing that I’m contributing to something bigger than myself.
To other alumni, especially those who share a similar journey, I encourage you to start small, whether by attending an event, offering mentorship, or donating what you can. Every bit counts, and it feels incredibly rewarding to give back to a community that once gave so much to you.
