The Power of Alumni Mentorship

As a proud Sunway alumna, giving back is my way of honouring the people who once believed in me before I believed in myself. Early in my career, my business partner took a risk and offered me a real opportunity to grow – not just a job, but the space to lead, make mistakes, and learn. That trust changed the trajectory of my life and career.
Because of that, I have come to realise that the next generation needs more than money. Many Sunway students are already hardworking and capable, but they may not have the networks, role models or chances to prove themselves. Sometimes, what they need most is for someone to open a door, listen to their questions, and say, “I see your potential – let’s work on it together.”
Today, I give back by mentoring Sunway students, sharing real stories from the workplace and offering practical guidance as they prepare for internships and their first jobs. Each conversation reminds me of how powerful it is when someone feels seen and supported. Watching my mentees grow in confidence and clarity is the most rewarding return on investment I could ask for.
To fellow alumni: you do not need a big title or a big bank account to make a difference. If someone once opened a door for you, consider doing the same for a Sunway student. One opportunity, one conversation, can change a life.
