Alumni Spotlight: Edric Ong Khai Jieh

Sunway alumnus Edric Ong Khai Jieh’s journey shows how curiosity and a willingness to explore can open doors to exciting opportunities.
 

Edric joined Sunway’s American Degree Transfer Program (ADTP) in June 2021 before transferring to San José State University to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Today, he is pursuing a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University.
 

During his time at Sunway, Edric had the opportunity to explore ideas and work with lecturers, inspiring him to build his first engineering project: a sumo robot. It was also a period of discovery, as he began exploring his interests and shaping his aspirations as an engineer. For Edric, ADTP was more than just a pathway to studying in the United States. It gave him the space to learn, explore, and discover his passions before taking the next step.
 

His advice to future ADTP students is to ask questions and stay curious. He encourages students to take things one step at a time, reminding them that not everyone has everything figured out from the start. Above all, he believes in working hard while making time to enjoy the journey.
